Julie Butner grew up in Maryland and volunteered with Happy Helpers for the Homeless in Baltimore while in high school. She joined Friendship Place after graduating from George Washington University in 2007 with degrees in History and Criminal Justice. Her favorite part of the job is coordinating Help the Homeless mini-walks, where she works with consumers to speak to local students and inspire them to walk for an end to homelessness. In her free time, Julie plays rugby with the Washington Furies and refs high school rugby. Her dog Izzy enjoys occasionally helping with outreach and visiting the Friendship Place drop-in center. |
