Outreach

We go out into the streets to meet homeless people where they are, taking them sandwiches and beverages, earning their trust and encouraging them to come into our resource center for services.

Hospitality

Our homeless neighbors are free to drop by Friendship Place to have a cup of coffee or sandwich, read the paper or enjoy friendly conversation.

Health Care

We offer free medical and psychiatric services at Friendship Place.

Shelters

We partner with five local congregations that host small transitional shelters, where consumers can work toward the goals they’ve set with their case manager while recovering from the trauma of living on the streets.

Permanent Housing

Through group homes, apartments and a new DC funded program we call Neighbors First, we offer housing and supportive services to formerly homeless men and women.

FAQs

What do you do about drugs and alcohol in your housing?
Residents in Friendship Place-sponsored housing sign an agreement to refrain from using drugs or alcohol. The same is true of the congregation-based shelters. Individuals with a history of substance abuse must participate in additional treatment.
